CSVFC Responds to Winter Weather Incidents
Monday February 17, 2025
The Chaffee-Sardinia Volunteer Fire Company responded to multiple weather related incidents today, including a handful of motor vehicle collisions on New York Route 16. Moderate snowfall combined with sustained wind created a dangerous situation for responders on open roadways. Portions of Route 16 were closed while emergency crews worked in whiteout conditions. The New York State Department of Transportation took over road closures in the afternoon.
We would like to thank our mutual aid partners from Yorkshire, Holland, South Wales and Strykersville fire departments who assisted with road closures. Without help from our neighbors, the situation could have gotten out of hand quickly.
