Ongoing Mutual Aid Providers
In order to assist in providing sufficient staffing for emergency responses, the Chaffee- Sardinia Fire Company may accept the assistance of qualified fire service members from other volunteer fire agencies.
Active members of other fire departments or companies who are frequently within our area of service may offer their assistance on an ongoing basis (“ongoing mutual aid”) per section 209-I, (1-a) of the New York State General Municipal Law.
This assistance is limited by the above section of law to assisting at the scene of a fire or other emergency, including EMS responses, and for the purpose of training.
Requirements for Ongoing Mutual Aid Providers
You must serve as a member of another New York State Volunteer Fire Department.
You must provide a reason for being within the area of service regularly (i.e. reside or work in the town of Sardinia, etc.)
You must provide a physical examination from your home department clearing you for service in the roles you wish to fill.
You must provide certificates of completion for training as required by company policy.
You must provide updated training and physical examination documentation annually as required by company policy.
Ongoing Mutual Aid Provider Application Process
Submit a completed Ongoing Mutual Aid Provider application and required training certificates to applications@sardiniafire.org.
Complete an interview with Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Company line officers.
Receive approval from Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Company line officers, board of directors and the Sardinia Town Board.
Provide physical examination documentation.
Complete our "new member orientation."
