The Fire Company’s operating budget for 2014 is $172,000.00.  Of this, $121,000.00 is reimbursed through a contract with the Town of Sardinia.  The majority of the difference is provided by these very same volunteers through fund-raising, including an annual carnival and field days.

We are constantly researching other funding sources, including private philanthropy and government grants.  Success from these sources include $6,000.00 from the A. J. Odell fund in 1996, which was used to purchase EMS equipment; $58,000.00 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in 2003, which was used to purchase equipment for our Rapid Intervention Team; and two matching grants, totaling approximately $3,000.00, from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which were used to purchase equipment for search and rescue, and wildland firefighting.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization, donations you make to our fire company may be tax deductible, and may include gifts-in-kind.  Before making any donation, please feel free to contact us as well as a tax adviser to assure that you receive the deduction you may be looking to make.  We do not offer tax advice.
